The Supreme Court's verdict of 27% OBC quota proves their caliber. They should be applauded for coming up with such fantastic solutions to such serious issues. The interesting thing here is that though most of the politicians fall into the OBC category, it's amazing how none of them have contemplated the repercussions of this. It would almost seem like they don't realize what is it like to be a person of the category. Such fantastically open views in favor of the general public is breath-taking. What amazing confidence the higher brass have in the general publics fairness. The sect of people who have been given extra privileges for 50 years, just that they have been oppressed enough not to use them is a total justification for them to suffer more and to lower the standard of Indian education in general.

Presently close to 6% of the seats in IIT's which are allotted to the SC/ST and OBC sections go vacant due to students not matching up with minimum requirements. Imagine what
will happen when more and more seats are allotted from the general quota to this noble cause. The logical explanation would be that they would either have more and more empty seats which could've been filled by students of the greater ranks who didn't get the chance as they just 'general' students (notice I didn't use the word caliber to ensure political correctness), or they reduce the required competency levels to an even lower level for the 'special' kids.

The equal opportunities amendment was made to ensure that no one should be denied justice by' reason of economic or other disabilities and to organize Lok Adalats to ensure that the operation of the legal system promoted justice on a basis of equal opportunity'. Nowhere does it mention the word cast or religion. India is supposed to be secular where caste and creed should not have any place in deciding the opportunity available to a person. Just because a sect has been oppressed for a significant amount of time doesn't mean they should be given preferential treatment over someone who is more capable. I do not advocate being insensitive to what their ancestors have gone through, but dividing people to get an education on basis of sect is pretty ridiculous. One is actually advocating using your sect, not your status in the society as the basis for education. Someone rightly commented, that people in the category would be from their caste first, country later.

Apart from diluting competition, the general category students will have an even tougher time to get into a good school. This will lead to parental pressure, x,y,z, and so forth. I can't even imagine the problems this can have. Diluting your institutes quality is no way to bring equality among the student crowd.

I have a friend who passed out of a government engineering college. I remember a conversation I had with him when Arjun Singh had the brain seizure of an idea to make half the college education for people who's ancestors some time back were oppressed. His words may be a little distorted now, but I believe the gist of the conversation led to him and his friends waiting for the quota to pass through and the new lot of OBC's to come in from that quota. The reception he described wasn't pleasant. Thankfully the system was not put into action till after he passed out. But there will be others with that thought process. The point of the matter is, that due to this divide, there will be increased disparities among different castes in the future. The next coming batch of students will feel the full shrug of anger because one student's friend could not come to the same place as him or his younger brother could not get into the same college as him or plain and simple, other's more capable with a better rank and has lost 2 yeas in high school slogging away their life but do not belong to a system of division which gave his ancestors greater privileges than some others about a few centuries ago. I guess he'll be thinking 'thanks great great great grand pop for screwing me over. Hope you had fun'.

The top institutions this year are increasing the tuition fee for all students. For whatever reason this may be the case one thing is for sure, the number of subsidized seats will have to be increased, so the regular folk will have to pay for them too. Not to mention sharing a classroom with people who may not be able to keep up with the pace and the teachers will have to slow down, lest being judges as inadequate. The thoughts of having such a constantly diminishing education system makes one wonder about the quality of education which will be available.

Don't get me wrong. I am for uplifting the poorer sections of society, who do have a handicap with respect to the student from a higher society, for which they should be given a quota. An economic basis for a quota at school level would be the most ideal system as far as I am concerned. But having a system which will definitely lead to a detriment of the future society will be something unacceptable. Having a 20 - 25% quota for the poorer sects would still be on the higher side but would be somewhat acceptable. But the present system, which I have mentioned several reasons for and will mention once again, could increase caste system and India could take a step back in development and social growth in the future.

I don't even want to get into what will happen, hypothetically of course, when this new system is implemented. But all I can say is I hope it bombs before too long. After all, the only good that can come out of the system will be something for the housewives to bitch about when some other's kid got into a good institute through the quota system. Sobering thought isn't it.

'He is a megalomaniac; one of his dreams is to conquer the world and enslave all humans, and he has achieved this status several times through methods such as hypnosis and masquerading. However, he often quickly relinquishes his post due to boredom, someone foiling his chance, his conviction that people do not deserve to have him as leader due to the ongoing peace that results, or his desire to go nap on a soft pillow.'

3) 18th november 1969, a player scored a penalty kick for Santos against Vasco da Gama at the Maracana stadium in rio de janeiro.... what was the significance of this goal which was colloquially called O Milésimo....(sitter)

4) She is a civic activist, especially with respect to municipal administration in Bangalore. She is also an art collector. 6) X was born with a complete set of teeth, a sign that he would become king, which is inappropriate for a brahmin. therefore his teeth were therefore broken and it was prophesied that he will rule through another. As the prime minister to his king, he started adding small amounts of poison in the kings food so that he would get used to it. The aim of this was to prevent the emperor from being poisoned by enemies. One day the queen, Durdha, shared the food with the emperor while she was pregnant. Since she was not used to eating poisoned food, she died. X decided that the baby should not die; hence he cut open the belly of the queen and took out the baby. A drop (bindu in Sanskrit) of poison had passed to the baby's head, and hence X named him Bindusara who went on to become a great king and to father the greatest emperor of the dynasty...

Enough for now. will post more stuff when i feel totally bored...

after 2 months of fun frolic and the lack of it, i think it is safe to say, the next 8 months, barring a 3 week vacation, are going to be a continuous sweet pain from a kick where it hurts...my shin...
timeline...august 8th-august 27th
series of orientations, free food and oogling over natural works of arts defined most of our time. the best part about US is that there is no redundancy. each beauty is different, even though under the hood they might be essentially the same thing. styles ranging from toyota's to coopers to acuras to mazda's. they are all a sight to remember.
meeting new people and discussions of which courses can land me a job were the unfortunate topics of discussion. everyone was thinking of on-campus jobs, jobs in the future, comparing the companies coming here and in other colleges, petty comparisons between resume's and trying to give each other false hope..' wow, you were the president of the annual cleanliness day committee in your college. that is so cool. i just have 3 years of work experience with microsoft/some-big-ass-company, your resume is so much better than mine. you will surely get morgan stanley. i hope i atleast get some job'. apart from the cynics, some hypocracies and boring conversations of pro's and con's of electives chosen, as a group of friends we had a lotf fun during that time. beer in hand, poker cards with uno cards as cash...good times.
i got my apartment about 3 km's from college, which means i have to cycle everyday up and down slopes which makes my legs go numb. moreover the mansion mess i call home is stacked with good desi food, who has the patience to make it. procrastination and fatigue takes over and i end up having cereal and bread for dinner..mm..healthy.
August 27th-today-december 15th odd..
assignments keep my mind from wandering or enjoying the other nicities of life. my food habits become better, if only a little bit. the normal thoughts of food, sports, women and fun are replaced with the 'looking-forward-to-friday', food, sports and work work work... in the written order of course. with every assignment contributing to my grade and realising every class i would have spent 12000 rupees..rather wasted them for not listening in class, the week passed by like unhygenix shot from a roman sling into Laundanum. no matter how fast it flies, the stink remains for sometime. and before the weekend gets over, you realise there you'r in deep shit cos there is an assignment for virtually every class and you hav'nt started.
the free times- fridays and saturdays are times for boring lectures about future, writing in corporate world, and many other things. what sucks even more is that the seminars are actually supposed to be helpful, but you just can't get yourself to listen hard..it is all just too boring. though the free food, which we still get often enough, is always welcome. even though the food is the same..some form of cheese, sometimes wine and beer, some chicken on a stick, some pigs in the blanket..it is all the same. but who can complain when its all free.
companies, info sessions, people getting interviews while you sit with more than enough rejects in your hand. feels good at times, thats when you have to remind yourself your purpose of being here, which dos'nt always make you feel better.
this piece of digital black and white may not sound like the most perfect time i have spent, but i would not replace it for anything. all the boring non sense, tough subjects, assignments day-in-day-out do seem to help me, in one way or the other. in any case, i think all this is worth while, atleast i hope it is.

manipal over, duke started. after almost 24 hours of virtually no sleep, cramped seats and lines and check in's, i finally reach my destination. a gazzillion expectations, most met, but non essential things like getting a roof to live under et all seem to be hanging on the thinest of threads. beautiful, sprawling student friendly campus is marred with security issues left right and center. homes look better than what one can expect at our own comfortable adobes in india, but costs will bring two generations on the road..atleats for the time being. this was day 1..i cant wait for what happens next.

1)This plce gets it's name from the arabic Jabal Tariq (Mt. Tariq) honouring Tariq ibn Ziyad, who captured this place in 711 AD. It was possibly one of the "Pillars of Hercules" that defined the limits of navigation for the ancient Mediterranean world. What do we know this place as today?(work-out-able)

2)Hotei, one of the 7 sacret monks, is better known to us as what..(HINT: Pokhran)

I AM KAYSER SOZE

I am Kayser Soze. well, actually i am kayser soze's clone. so i am sort of me. anyway, i am on the run from the police and am hiding at the police station, till then, i am a stand in for me. being a clone i think in exactly the same way as me and i agree that i should take over the business till i am free to come out of hiding. even though i have become a drug lord in america and have a monopoly in the human trafficing market, i feel that the i should explore other areas. i hear the cartoon wars have begun and mr. cartman is leading the dark side against the justice league...hmm....if only batman could come to the dark side..wiat a minute, isn't he already? in that case justice league...prepare to meet your match. because once Bush looses the elections the real world will become to damn boring with people trying to do good and i will be trying to help the justice league to try and fall on the gravel, they will trip on themselves without any help. i spoke of this idea to me and i agreed with me.
I hope to implement it fast, but i will need your help in it. all you college students with not more than an ounce of goodness in you can apply. a GPA (upper) cut off of 6.66 is a necessity but i will allow others to sit for it if they can convince me of their GPA's were flukes, i will still have to ask me for a special favor in such cases, so you better be good. the money will be as much as you want till you try and become more powerful than me (highly unlikely..cos im not afraid to do wht others are afraid of...). then i would have to make you blink for an extraordinarily long time.(comprende...)
otherwise you will only be able to meet me and not me because as i said, im in hiding. Mr. Kobayashi will be helping me out with the recruitment process. i think you will remember him from his cool funky hairydo and his accent (i told him to put in on..). i am looking forward to meeting the people who are going to be very rich and the future rulers of the underworld, (after me that is..)
apparently i had made a deal with Lucifer (which only i know about..so i don't know all the details) that once i get bored of this world and of the cartoon freaks, ill be given an oppertunity to rule hell. (i think he got to know of my plans to overtake the damned place as it is) 3 lucky students will be given the oppertunity to go down with me. so work hard and blow up some ships, rob some trucks..use your imagination my friends.
the greatest trick the devil ever pulled was to convince the world that he did'nt exist....for the record, thats my moto. and just like that..puff...(im gone).

quoted genius..

As a fan of insults and the penache' with which they are spoken, i'll like to present just a few of the big names in history who have, elevated my interest into wanting to learn more...most of these 'praiseworthy efforts' may not be directed to anyone in perticular, and if you think they are directed to you, i might have had you in mind while typing this...

1. good ol Ab. Lincoln..."he can compress the most words into the smallest ideas better than any man i'v even seen."

5.H.L.Mencken..."Democracy is a form religoen. It is the worship of jackels by jackasses."

6.Mozart: You are still very young. Why not begin with ballods?
Young Man: But you composed symphonies when you were only 10.
Mozart: True-but i did'nt ask how.

7.Anon..."My position Sir, does not allow me to argue with you. But if it ever came down to a choice of weapons, I should choose grammer." (INNNSULT...)

8.Ronald Regan, on loosing the hipee vote..."A hipee is someone who looks like tarzan, walks like jane and smells like Cheeta."

9.Anon...."I am free of all prejudice. I hate everyone equally."

10.Anon..."I am never wrong, I once thought i was wrong, turns out i was only mistaken." (not exactly an insult...but wouldnt you want to have a go at him..)
